With the development of globalization and the improvement of people's living standard, the foreign cosmetics have already made a hit among more and more young ladies. In order to take firm stands in Chinese market,it is necessary for foreign cosmetics brands to raise quality assurance and enhance appropriate publicity.A significant way for the enterprise to advertise and popularize its products is the cosmetic instruction, whose translation quality has an direct impact on its brand image. However,we currently haven't attached great significance to the translation of cosmetic instructions in China, which resulted in narrow research angle and little relevant achievements. The author insist that Adaptation Theory can offer the theoretical support for the E-C translation of cosmetic instructions.According to Verschueren's Adaptation Theory, language has three properties(variability, adaptability, and negotiability)and four dimensions(language structure, context, dynamics and salience). The essay attempts to analyze the E-C translation of cosmetic instructions through the comparison in terms of language structure and context between original text and the translation, and the author has drawn the conclusion that the translator should not only comply with the structure of the target language(at the level of vocabulary, syntax and discourse),but also adapt to the context of the target language(in mental, social and physical aspects). In addition, the translation is dynamic, which requires translator to adapt to the increasing change of the E-C translation of cosmetic instructions at each level,so as to produce the translation of high quality.
