Research On The C-E Translation Of Tourism Public Signs From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

With the blooming development of tourism,more and more foreigners come to China to have a sightseeing.The number of foreign tourists has increasingly grown,which makes the even outstanding role of English translation on Chinese public signs in scenic spots.Scenic spots are significant windows of China' s opening to the outside world.Whether the English versions of public signs are correct or not directly influences foreigners' impression on tourism attractions,or even on China.However,there are still quite a few problems for the English translation on public signs at present.This research aims to study on the incorrect and nonstandard translation on public signs,which is on the basis of eco-translatology.From the perspective of pragmatics,this study divides the translation errors into pragmatic-linguistic failure and socio-pragmatic failure.The study found that as the target readers of public signs are both from source language and target language,translators need to give consideration to both languages by dynamic translation strategy,so that the translation will achieve effective communication between translators and readers.According to adaptation and selection theory,translators are the core of translation activity.The optimal English version is generated by continuously adapting to the eco-environment and selecting the translation,while at the same time making multi-dimension adaptation from language dimension,culture dimension and communication dimension.Translation activity is the process of achieving optimal adaptation and optimizing the selection.After the translation task,in order to achieve the translation's being "survival of the fittest",there should be a relevant evaluation system to have a final assessment on both the translator and the translation.This thesis is put forward to correct the translation errors in scenic spots.It aims to improve the translation quality as well as making a dispensable component of China's opening up,which also shows the theoretical significance and practical values of this research.
