With the acceleration of globalization and cultural diversity, the increasingly closer relationship between China and the world is manifested not only in economy and politics, but also in culture and communication. As the delivery of geological heritages and geo-science,geoparks shoulder a great responsibility of popularizing geo-science culture. However, geoparks of China is encountering challenges and pressures both inside and outside: popularization of geological knowledge inside and propaganda of geological culture outside. And practice has proved that the Chinese-English translation of public signs plays an important role in these two aspects. This thesis takes two geoparks in Guizhou Province for example: Zhijin Cave Global Geopark and Mount Fanjing National Geopark, and the author collects translations of public signs in the two parks as first-hand resource and tries to use the eco-translatology theory to analyze the current English translation of public signs in the two geoparks. In addition, through the analysis of the English translation in global geopark and national geopark,it is found that the translation of public signs in national geopark is still in need of improvement, and the English translation of the public signs in the global geopark can be used for reference. The research finds that the problems in the translation of public signs are mainly in the three aspects: language, culture and pragmatic communication. The thesis aims to make corresponding suggestions for the translation of public signs in geoparks in the future by classifying the errors of translations of public signs.
