The BaMin Annals was compiled in Hongzhi years of Ming Dynasty,which is the first local chronicles of Fujian Province currently.This book was supervised by the Fujian Zhenshou eunuch Chen Dao,compiled by Huang Zhongzhao.They started to compile this book in the twentieth year of Chenghua(1484).It was completed in the third year of Hongzhi(1490)and engraved in the fourth year of Hongzhi(1491).The book has eighty-seven volumes and it Use the materia medica compiled,divided into 18 categories,such as:geography,economic,knighted,rank officer,schools,etc.It contains 42 points system.During the compiling process,Huang Zhongzhao widely collected data and did the textual research detailedly.He adopted a large number of old chi and ancient documents from predecessors as the reference.The contents of adopted documentation is very detailed and it saved a large amount of historical data.The content of Hongzhi BaMin Annals is very extensive,so it has great value in historical philology and historical data.Especially in the aspects of biography,social economic,culture education and the imperial literature,natural disasters,literature,etc.Meanwhile,it has important reference value to study the history,society,economics,culture of Fujian province.What is more,BaMin annals is the extant earliest local chronicles of Fujian Province,and its compiling system and content have an important guiding role on the later compiling of local chronicles.But Hongzhi BaMin Annals also has some shortcomings,such as,the imperfect style is not complete,some wrong records,and absurd contents,But it doesn't affect the high Philology value.
