In the local chronicles of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,a large number of historical materials of theatrical performances were collected and used by scholars to study the problems in the field of opera.Among them,the academic circles take the historical materials of local chronicles as the research object,and study the history of local operas by sorting out the collected information.This undoubtedly enriches the historical data of local opera and brings a new angle for the study of regional opera.During the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,Shaanxi,as an important theatrical area,had great significance in sorting out and researching the historical materials of local chronicles.Although the historical materials of Shaanxi local chronicles opera have been involved by predecessors,they have not been systematically sorted out and studied,so there is still much room for research.This paper takes the historical materials of theatre compiled in local chronicles of Shaanxi during the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China as the research object,and from the perspective of literature,attempts to outline the complete space of theatre in Shaanxi,including the living environment of theatre,the evolution of theatre,the practitioners and groups of theatre,theatre reason and the acceptance subject of theatre.Firstly,this paper analyses the characteristics of the historical materials of Shaanxi local chronicles.The space of Shaanxi local chronicles is studied on the premise of literature collection.Secondly,it analyses the theatrical space in Shaanxi.The theatrical activities are closely related to the social customs behind them.Local chronicles include several kinds of operas related to folk customs,including Festival operas,life etiquette operas and temple fair operas,which are important parts of folk opera activities.In addition,besides the traditional customs,the official banning and improvement of the living environment also affect the survival and development of the drama.In addition to the living environment,it is necessary to focus on the analysis of the main part of the play.Performing a complete play can not be separated from the variety of plays,actors,theatre organizations,theatres and audience feedback.The formation of Shaanxi local opera is closely related to the folk exorcise ceremony and Yangko song and dance.After experiencing the development of opera with distinctive features,theselocal operas from different sources eventually formed a mixed situation of various tunes.The opera practitioners in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China came from a wide range of sources and played an important role in promoting the development and prosperity of opera.Compared with their predecessors,their cultural education and social status have been paid more and more attention by the government.However,according to the data collected in local chronicles,there are still prejudices about the identity of opera practitioners in some areas.In terms of opera groups,they can be divided into self-entertainment classes for villagers and opera troupes operated commercially.Self-music class is not for profit,it reflects the interests of the villagers.The theatre troupe is profitable and has a variety of performances.Although the scale and performance level of the two classes are quite different,both small self-entertainment classes and large commercial operation classes occupy an important position in rural life.Shaanxi local chronicles also contain various theatres,including temple theatre,official theatre,tea garden theatre,street square and temporary stage.The diversification of performance venues meets the different requirements of opera performance,which is not only conducive to the diversification of the development of theatre,but also greatly meet the needs of different audiences.In addition,the process of acting inevitably involves feedback from the audience,and the audience's attitudes towards or against the opera also affect the development of the opera.In short,the paper focuses on the analysis of the living environment of folk operas and the organization,operation and development and prosperity under the environmental impact,and unfolds the historical materials of operas contained in Shaanxi local chronicles from many aspects.In addition,the historical materials of local chronicles provide reliable information for us to further study the local opera activities in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,which has high academic value and deserves our continued attention.
