Based on the background of cultural similarity,the author investigates the communication and interaction process by the qualitative research method and summary the acculturation of Chinese exchange students in Taiwan and analyzes the causes.The paper draws on Berry's acculturation model and the "relationship theory" of Huang Guangguo,and brings forward the concept of"instrumental adaptation" and "emotional adaptation".Through the investigation of the acculturation of Chinese exchange students in Taiwan,we find that the acculturation can be divided into "instrumental acculturation" and "emotional acculturation".In addition,they can quickly integrate into in the "instrumental acculturation" level,but conflict can be easily found in the "emotional acculturation" level.The author analyzes the causes from cultural environment,identity and interpersonal communication respectively.From the perspective of cultural environment,cross-strait culture is the same and different.The cultural similarity has a positive influence on "instrumental acculturation",but it conflicts with their deep integration.The cultural differences of ideology have adverse effects on emotional acculturation.Second,the identities(students/visitors/exchange students)determine that achieving emotional acculturation is difficult.Third,they huddle together for warmth between the Chinese exchange students and segment with Taiwanese,which has an important influence on this"instrumental acculturation",but conflict with their deep integration.
