The development of contemporary art is rich and pluralistic.Wood carving art has a rich traditional cultural foundation.Standing in the forefront of the times,traditional wood carving is limited by its own development,so it is difficult to exert all the artistic potential.Chinese contemporary freehand woodcarving advocates a vivid form,vivid charm,and more attention to the expression of the artist's own humanistic thoughts.It is similar to the great freehand brushwork in Chinese painting.The freehand woodcarving is based on the natural nature of wood in the language expression,the length of the family,the integration of China and the west,and overcomes the barriers of the traditional wood carving.With a long history for thousands of years,it has gone through the wind and rain,and has been accepted as a new form of freehand carvings by its audience.So the freehand carvings have attracted a lot of attention in terms of its national characteristics and Chinese style not only in China but also in the rest of the world.It is a kind of recognition and inheritance of the cultural connotation of the traditional freehand style,which is also a return to art.Although freehand wood carving or freehand sculpture exists and manifests differently in Chinese traditional art,it is far less rich and profound than the literati freehand painting in the scale of development and depth of expression in feudal times due to its historical background.With the efforts of modern and contemporary sculptors in China,freehand sculpture has finally entered the stage of art with an old and new attitude.In this article,it was at this stage of development that the existing theories of contemporary freehand wood carving and freehand sculpture were used as an important basis for research.Traditional freehand art and traditional woodcarving were selected as important longitudinal coordinates to analyze contemporary freehand woodcarving theory.The similarities and differences between the Chinese contemporary freehand woodcarving and the Western modern woodcarving in ideological cognition and formalexpression were taken as the horizontal reference.And the freehand brushwork of contemporary Chinese woodcarvings was analyzed through the summarization of the aesthetic features of contemporary freehand woodcarving and the interpretation of the works of representative native freehand woodcarving artists.Chinese sculpture has been lost in theory since ancient times.In this paper,the analysis of contemporary wood carving freehand theory is to perfect its creation system from the origin of freehand brushwork,draw the boundary between the ideas and ideas,let the woodcarving art absorb the nutrients of the national freehand spirit,integrate the western and the west,enrich the artistic language and expression space of the wood carving to make the artistic features of Chinese contemporary wood freehand more vivid.
