As a business model adapted to modern consumption concept,franchising's enormous advantages have been proved a big success by the history of more than 100 years development in the United States.It has become one of the most popular methods of enterprise expansion and individual entrepreneurship in the world.Therefore,it is helpful for the rapid development of China's economy to learn from other countries' advanced and successful franchising cases.The translating material which the author of the report chose comes from a business book Franchising: The Business Strategy that Changed the World.The book consists of ten chapters,and chapter Nine SERVICE MASTER The Masters of Service,Serving the Master and chapter Ten THE SOUTHLAND CORPORATION Franchising Convenience Around the World were chosen to serve as the material for author's translating practice.The translating practice report includes four main chapters: introduction of the translation task,translation procedure,case study,and conclusion.The first chapter describes the translation task,introducing the background,source of the translation task,and the contents of the selected chapters.The second chapter records the translation process from the three aspects of pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation,focusing on the preparation work before translation,including translation plan,translation tool,translation theory,etc.Chapter Three is the core of the translation report.Firstly,the author of this report analyzes how to solve the difficulties in translation practice under the guidance of Yan Fu's translation theory “faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance”,such as,terminology,names of company and person and job position translation under the principle of “faithfulness”,and business English sentences translation meets the translation standard of “expressiveness and elegance” on the basis of “faithfulness”.Secondly,some translation skills are also used in the translating process to make the translation conform to the principle of “faithfulness,expressiveness and elegance”,such as annotation,amplification,omission and conversion.In chapter four,the author of this report drew some translation lessons and experiences from this practice to improve the author's translation ability.Also,the author hopes to providesome valuable reference and better template to the people who are interested in business English translation.
