This thesis mainly focuses on the documentary of rural themes since the new record movement.Through the horizontal comparison of the narrative discourse differences of the documentary and independent documentary in the countryside to the society,at the same time,the vertical comparison of the different narrative perspectives of the documentaries in different periods.The author mainly want to answer the following questions:1.What kind of appearances should the rural grassroots society appear in all stages of the development of documentary in China?2.How does a Chinese documentary describe the women,ethnic groups and misery in the rural undercountry since the new record movement?3.What is the difference between narrative discourse in the independent documentary and documentary in the system of country theme?The first chapter sorts through the documentaries of different historical periods since the founding of new China,from which we can see the transformation of Chinese documentary narrative perspective.Different narrative perspectives and documentary creators have different perspectives on the rural community.The first chapter is a full-text introduction,which can lay the foundation for the following research by combing the different images of rural society in the documentary.The second chapter will examine the narrative difference between the two kinds of documentary through the study of the different types of narrative discourse of the female characters in the country through the study of the system documentary and the independent documentary.Documentary of the system takes the case of Chen Xiaoqing's "Home in Beijing"(1993)as an example.The independent documentary takes Li Hong's "Back to Phoenix Bridge"(1997)as an example.At the end of the two documentaries,the views on the future of rural women in the countryside are different,causing the author's thinking.The third chapter studies the different narrative modes of the under-system ethnic groups in documentary and independent documentary in the system.The documentary in the system takes the case of "The Last Caravan"(2001)directed by Hao Yue-chun as an example,an independent documentary is titled "The Last Bang Bang"(2015).Both documentaries are historical records of a group that is about to disappear,and there are some differences between the two directors in the narrative perspective of the underlying ethnic groups.The fourth chapter analyzes the different narrative modes of "misery" in the countryside and in the documentary films and independent documentaries.An institutional documentary takes Jiao Bo's "China in the Countryside"(2013)as an example,an independent documentary takes the example of "Cotton"(2013)directed by Zhou Hao.At the same time,the two directors are different from the "misery"narrative tactics in the countryside.Conclusion is based on the previous summary and reflection which is the results of a comparative study of documentary and independent documentaries within the system.At the same time,some shortcomings of this thesis are briefly introduced,and the research plan that the author needs to carry on next is briefed.
