Analyzing The Translation Strategy Of Parenthesis In The Technical Text Based On Discourse Cohesion

At present,with the development of science,English for Science and Technology has become an increasingly important field in English.This paper covers a range of different information of the petroleum industry.And the author aims to discuss the operation and rules in the oil trading.Nonetheless,there are a great number of parenthesis in the text,which make the sentences long and complicated.There are also some seemingly ambiguous references which need to be understood by carefully analyzing the logic between the lines.As Chinese and English are different types of language,of which Chinese pay more attention to the content while English focuses more on the form.At the same time,parenthesis is less used in Chinese scientific texts than in English,because it makes the English texts more logic and rigorous.This paper,by analyzing the three transaltion methods of parenthesis(No treatment,Converting punctuations and Reconstructuring sentences),concludes the translation rule and the appropriate strategy.Based on changing the sequence or structure of the sentences,this paper also realizes the functional equivalence with the original text by referring the cohesion device theory(reference,substitution,ellipsis,conjunction)put forward by Halliday&Hasan.
