With the continuous promotion of the economic and educational level,more and more attention and concern has focused on the education of young children,meanwhile,the trend of children learning English at a younger age is more and more apparent.In this background and urgent need,English competence is a must for training preschool teachers both in the terms of the social demand and the individual development.Recently,many secondary vocational schools have set up the preschool education specialty and so has Guizhou E-Commerce School.However,most of the preschool education graduates fail to meet the job requirements due to the poor English competence,partly due to the English teaching in the preschool education of Guizhou E-Commerce School.Therefore,it is urgent for Guizhou E-Commerce School to improve the English teaching in order to achieve the training objectives of preschool teachers.It motivated to do research for this urgent need in this specific scenario.On the basis of the related theories and previous researches,the school-based research is carried out on the English course and its implementation of preschool education specialty in Guizhou E-Commerce School.The purpose of the research is to find out problematic aspects,causes and inadequacies in English teaching in this local vocational school so as to give reference for improving the quality of the English teaching and cultivating the preschool education students that are competent to be preschool teachers,through methods of investigation and analysis of the causes of the problems with the English course,teaching implementation and the teaching effect.The research findings reveal that first,the present English course design does not play a satisfactory function to meet the requirements of preschool teachers' overall development;second,the English teaching is not centered on the students and cannot meet the students' career need;third,the teaching effects fail to fully examine the students' English learning and does not contribute to the need in improvement of the students' career quality.Although the research is based on a serial of English teaching problems in the preschool education specialty of Guizhou E-Commerce School,the research findings indicate that there are similar problems with English course design in other specialties of the school.Therefore,the survey and the analysis of the research can be a helpful reference for the management of the school and the English teachers to study further on the problems existing in English courses of other specialties of the school as well as other secondary vocational schools.In general,the research contributes to promote the reform of English teaching and the professional development of English teachers,which enables English course design ultimately meet the training objectives of the talents in secondary vocational school.
