On Chinese Translation Of Chinese Four-Character Phrase In Legend Of RuYi

With the development of globalization,more and more Chinese literary works become popular in foreign countries.While the Chinese four character phrase plays an important role in Chinese language.This study selected The Legend of Ru Yi,a literary work of writer Liu Lianzi,as the target text.With the feature of beautiful and elegant language,this novel soon become popular among readers.After reading this text,the translator found that there are almost 170 Chinese four character phrases in the text.Though there are many studies about the Chinese four character phrases,there are few study about four character phrases from the perspective of the theory of Aesthetic translation,hence,this thesis is based on the analysis of target text,connected the principles of aesthetic translation,in order to find the suitable and useful translation strategy for the Chinese four character phrases of The Legend of Ru Yi..These translation strategies can make these four character phrases to understood as well as enjoy the beauty of four character phrases by target readers.Firstly,the translator defined and classified the Chinese four character phrases,and discussed their features respectively.Then put forward the three translation principles on the basis of aesthetic translation,,which are the principles of beauty of sound?beauty of form and beauty of sense.At last,the translator concluded the three translation strategies for the four character phrases,which are translate the four characters into simplified words?into varied English phrases and into varied figure of speech.From the study,the translator find that the translation can't be controlled by the surface structure,we need to selected the suitable translation strategies,at the same time,the translator must know the feature of the Chinese four character phrases,find the proper strategies on the basis of the principles of aesthetic translation.Hope this study could be referential to the development of translation the Chinese four character phrases.
