With the rapid growth of China's economic and the improvement of international status,China looks forward to obtaining the recognition and understanding from international community. On the other hand, they are also eager to know more about China.Report on the work of the government(hereafter RWG)has a comprehensive content,so it is one of the most authoritative information sources for the foreign countries to understand China's national conditions, policies.Meanwhile, there are many no-subject sentences with its special style. The English version of the RWG is read mainly by foreigners who have different thinking modes and linguistic expression habit from Chinese. Therefore, starting from the acceptability and comprehensibility of translation, translators must manage to be faithful to the spirit of the original and adapt to the expression habit of foreign readers for achieving the best international publicity. In recent years, many scholars have studied RWG from the perspective of empiricism, linguistics and culture. However, few scholars study the translation of RWG from the perspective from Adaptation Theory. Thus, this thesis aims to analyze the translation of no-subject sentences in RWG from the perspective of Adaptation Theory. This thesis analyzes the translation of no-subject in RWG adopting the qualitative method from the perspective of Adaptation Theory. It mainly studies factors translators take into account and how to achieve the adaptation of no-subject sentences translation. In this way,the translation text can be easily accepted by foreign readers. This paper explains the choice of C-E translation of no-subject sentences from two analytical dimensions. In other words, the translator should take the structural objects of adaptability and contextual correlates of adaptability into account. The translation of no-subject sentences is also a continuous choice process.Translator often adopts the translation strategies, such as supplement the subject, translate into passive voice or there be structure,to realize the structural adaptation.Meanwhile, the translation of no-subject sentences is a dynamical adaptation theory. When it acts the title, translator can flexibly deal with the translation of no-subject sentence by translating into v-ing phrase and imperative sentence. The Adaptation Theory is pragmatic perspective theory. It describes and interprets the language phenomenon and the operating mechanism from the perspective of the cognitive, social, and cultural aspects. It is believed that the process of language use is making linguistic choices to adapt to the needs of communication at different levels of consciousness. This theory provides a new perspective for translation studies and helps to interpret translation and guide translation practice.
