With implementation of the “going global” strategy, China’s internationalstanding has significantly risen. The countries all over the world increasingly payattention to and strengthen the communication with China. The political discoursetouch upon China’s fundamental policy, social and political issues as well as policyclaim, and their translation plays a significant role in the national political andeconomic interest, our country’s international image and reputation even internationalrelations. On the assumption that translation is a pragmatic choice behavior, the thesismainly makes an interdisciplinary study by adopting a methodology of qualitativeanalysis to the translation of the national Chinese RWG2011within the westernpragmatic theory—Adaptation Theory. According to the idea of Adaptation Theory, the thesis creatively puts forward the specific translation principles and strategy in C-Etranslation of RWG. In addition, the thesis discusses the realization of this theory incontext, style and linguistic structure and provides various corresponding approachesfor a better TT that can not only reflect the connotation and style of the ST but alsoadapt to the thinking mode of the foreign receptors. The research findings show that: dynamic adaptation goes throughout thetranslation activity all the time not only in the linguistic levels but also in choice-making of translation principles, strategy and methods that are interadaptive andinterdependent. Adaptation Theory has a strong explanatory power to the politicaltranslation, and it can not only provide new ideas and methods for translation studybut also play a guiding role for those who undertake political discourse translation andeducation program in C-E translation practice, translation teaching and cultivation ofthe translating talents.
