Educational neuroscience is a new cutting-edge interdiscipline in the world, which integrates mature disciplines together, such as neuroscience, psychology, pedagogy and other disciplines. It aims at developing the brain's potentiality by using scientific educational methods and other possible means. At present,a lot of professional books, popular science articles and academic papers about educational neuroscience have been published abroad. However, remarkable achievements have not been made in China yet.In China, there are few professional books that introduce educational neuroscience, let alone the popular science books directed at mass audiences. Therefore,in order to popularize educational neuroscience to domestic teachers and parents and instruct them how to raise and teach children, the translator hereby selected the English original text for translation. The original text of the translation was selected from the book Pink brain,Blue Brain published by the American company Houghton Mifflin in 2010,and it was a popular science book. The author,Lise Eliot, explained the causes of the differences between boys and girls from the perspective of neurology, psychology, biology, and pedagogy through simple cases, and at the same time, provided different educational methods for parents and teachers based on these differences. The introduction and the first chapter of this book were selected for translation. The Skopos theory is the dominant theory of functional translation, which emphasizes that translation is a kind of communicative behavior. The purpose of translation determines the whole process of translation. It also stresses that the translated text should be close to the readers. When translating, the translator should pay attention to the use of expressions andidioms that conform to the target language, and make necessary adjustments to the original text.On the other hand, the genre theory not only analyzes the internal mechanism of discourse, including linguistic and structural features, but also the factors behind the discourse, such as the purpose of communication. Therefore,in the process of translation, under the comprehensive guidance of the genre theory and the Skopos theory, the characteristics of the original text were analyzed firstly according to the genre theory;secondly, the original text was reconstructed through translation, and the equivalences of linguistic and structural features in the original text and the translated text were achieved. The problems encountered in translation were systematically analyzed from three aspects of vocabulary, sentence as well as discourse, and the corresponding translation skills were put forward, such as annotation, part of speech conversion, voice conversion, etc. However, due to the lack of translators' professional knowledge and limited translation capabilities,it was inevitable that there were shortcomings and deficiencies in the process of translation, analysis and report writing.
