The Translation Of Postpositive Modifiers Of Nouns And Adverbial Modifiers In Academic Text

The report is based on the translation practice of the third and fourth chapters in the academic text of The Digital City and Mediated Urban Ecologies.From a professional point of view,the text makes an objective exposition on the application of urban digital technologies in the field of information technology,featuring academic texts.It is standard and concise in language and logical in argumentation.A large number of postpositive-modifiers of nouns and adverbial modifiers make it difficult to translate.While translating the postpositive-modifiers of nouns,the translator divides them into two categories: restriction and non-restriction.In the meanwhile,the translator adopts the method of free translation to deal with them by techniques such as cutting,embedding and recasting.For the translation of adverbial modifiers,the translator divides them into the ones of phrases and ones of clauses,and uses the techniques such as conversion,order changing and original ordering.In the process of writing the report,the translator summarizes the translation techniques of the postpositive-modifiers of nouns and adverbial modifiers in the academic texts in accordance with translation theories.It is hoped that the report can provide some reference for the people of relevant fields and the translators working on the texts of the same type.
