Vocabulary teaching is the key and difficult point of Chinese teaching for foreigners.The ancient Chinese is based on single-syllable words,and the extension of meaning has led to the abundant meaning and connotation of single-syllable words(or morphemes)in contemporary Chinese language.This determines that the one-to-one translation teaching method can not be adopted in the teaching of polysemous words(or morphemes),and the polysemous words should be explained in the semantic extension system.Color words are basic words in language.The frequent use of color words has led to their rich connotations.Taking color words as the objects to investigate the semantic extension system as well as the vocabulary teaching method for Chinese for foreigners can get twofold results with half the effort in the study of related issues.In view of this,based on the author's teaching practice in Thailand,taking the analysis of the color word "red" as the basic point,this paper investigates the teaching of color words in Chinese for Thai,and then reflects on the vocabulary teaching method for Chinese for foreigners in the context of the semantic extension system.This paper is divided into four parts.The introduction part mainly introduces the value and significance of the topic and the research contents and methods,and summarizes the research status of semantic extension and related teaching.The first chapter sorts out the ontological knowledge and the contextual theory.Based on the discussion of semantic extension and the polysemy of words,the color word "red" is taken as an example to present the semantic extension system.The second chapter takes the basic color words as the basic point,makes a comparative study of the color words in Chinese and Thai from two aspects of color meaning and extended meaning,and then analyzes the key and difficult points of the teaching of color words in Chinese for Thai.The third chapter is based on the study in the first two chapters to make teaching design from two levels of point(Chinese color word "red")and side(synthesis of color words),and make teaching reflection according to the specific problems encountered in the teaching.The fourthchapter is the summary and sublimation of the whole paper.Based on the discussion of the teaching of color words,reflection is made on the semantic system teaching for Chinese for foreigners.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper and points out the deficiencies of the paper and the direction of further efforts.
