Review On Bernhard Karlgren's Study In Chinese Bronzes

Bernhard Karlgren is a sinologist in Sweden.It is very important for his researching Chinese bronze.This article focuses on the analysis of Bernhard Karlgren's Yin and Chou in Chinese Bronzes,Some weapons and tools of the Yin dynasty,The New Study on Chinese Bronzes and so on.InYin and Chou in Chinese Bronzes,Bernhard Karlgren analyzed the inscriptions,ornamentation,shape and other information,in order to classify the bronzes with “ya,xi zi sun and ku,which are three kinds of graphic texts,to be Yin dynasty;Some bronzes with the name from the king of the Zhou dynasty,the royal family temple of the Zhou Dynasty,the minister's name of the Zhou dynasty,which belongs to Zhou dynasty.Some Weapons and Tools of the Yin Dynasty,Bernhard Kar lgren used typological methods to classify the collected bronze weapons and tools,on this basis,he determined the age of the weapons and tools,which he collected,combined with the related statements of some foreign scholars on the bronzes of animals style.A discussion about bronzes of the relationship between the Chinese bronze collected by Bernhard Karlgren and the bronze of the Karasuk culture in the Siberian region,it is concluded that the Yin Dynasty in China was the origin of animal-style bronzes,and that during the Karasuk Culture period in the Siberia region,the bronzes was influenced by Yin bronze culture.The New Study on Chinese Bronzes,the emphasis is to analyze the three kinds of categories A,B,and C in the classical style.He believes that the two types of decorations A and B are completely different.Class C is between A and B,and new elements are absorbed to form a new style.The reason for this conclusion is that the craftsmen who made bronzes are different.Bernhard Karlgren analysis inscriptions,shapes,and decors on bronzes,and combined with the research methods of Chinese historical literature,which still has important significance.
