His legendary life and unique personality together contribute to creating“the spirit of Qian Xuesen”, which is an important component both of the spirits of the Chinese ethnic peoples and the times, and is still full of energy in the ongoing socialist cultural and ideological progress. The systematic study of the spirit of Qian xuesen and its new value of the times, which is covered by its basic connotation, has some theoretical and practical significance, such as promoting the spirit of Qian Xuesen, cultivating socialist core value system and realize the China Dream of great rejuvenation of our nation, and so on.The study develops mostly using mixed research methods by combining theory including with systematic analyzing, and combining historical inheritance with era innovation. On the base of existing research results, the paper integrated all kinds of the viewpoints about the spirit of Qian Xuesen and then expounded with own opinions.It also endowed new values and structured new promoting ways of the spirit of Qian Xuesen. All of these could be regarded as innovation points of the paper.Putting the forming background as the entry points, the paper constructed a five-level research system, focusing on the basic connotation, key features, value of the times and promoting ways of the spirit of Qian Xuesen.First of all, the spirit of Qian Xuesen is developed in a special history background, effected by the well-educated experience and unique working environment, and is also a self-perpetuating production shaped by Qian Xuesen himself. That is to explain the historical background for the following connotation definition and features induction of the spirit of Qian Xuesen. Secondly, the paper defined the basic connotation with four aspects: faithful patriotic, rigorous pursuing the truth, pioneering and innovative, selfless dedication. By then, an outstanding Qian Xuesen is vividly carved. Thirdly, the paper refined three key features from the basic connotation of the spirit of Qian Xuesen. It is the unification of the spirit of Chinese ethnic peoples and the times, the unification of the spirit of science ethics andhumanities, the unification of social values and personal values. Fourthly, the paper digged out three new values of the spirit of Qian Xuesen, under the new historical conditions. It is to provide new thinking for current education pattern reform, to offer driving force for cultivating and practicing the socialist core values, to supply reference for building learning-oriented society and innovation-oriented country.Fifthly, the paper seeked out three ways to promote the spirit of Qian Xuesen at the specific implementation level. In order to gradually realize the hierarchical propagation, normalized learning and standardized study of the spirit of Qian Xuesen,we should enrich the education content, establish publicity system and strengthen academic research. So that we can promote the spirit of Qian Xuesen on track, and keep it going forward with the times as far as possible.
