The Study On The Million Disarmament In 1985

In 1985 the great disarmament was the unilateral action made by CPC Central Committee under the condition that the Cold War is not yet ended and the US-Soviet is confronted tightly. With the development of the international situation and the national economic construction, the strategic decision is made. In June 1985, under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping's thought-----reducing most people from the headquarters, branches and a large military, “the Military reform, streamlining and reorganization Plan" was issued. From the second half of 1985, along the lines of withdrawing, combining, demoting, crossing, changing and straightening, the great disarmament was performing from organ to armed forces, institutions and security units. The proportion of the various branches tend to be reasonable and balanced, which further marked new army building guidelines changing from the quantity and scale to focusing on quality and efficiency, and took a strategic shift with Chinese characteristics so as to make a solid foundation in the center of the modernization of army. More far-reaching significance of the great disarmament in 1985 lies in the result that China can successfully coordinate the relations between the army and the national economic construction. The army should act under the overall situation, and then the PLA can actively support and participate in the reform and opening up and modernization, thereby accelerating the socialist modernization process of China.
