The Study Of Police Sub-culture Of China

Two important parts of police culture are police sub-culture and police mainstream culture, also, the latter one guides the practice of policing and give them the directions to go forward to what the society expects, but because of the particularity of the occupation, for the police officers, the mainstream culture can not fully meet all the spiritual and material needs of their lives. In order to solve the problem which they meet in the life, the police sub-cultural phenomenon is appeared, and with the development of society, this sub-culture is inherited, and gradually internalized into a culture within the police. After the founding of new China, the scholars began the study of police culture research, but these study basically confined to literature and the police material. Until recent years, domestic scholars began studying the police sub-culture and they found the sub-culture in police has exerted significant influence on both work and life of policemen, of which the negative effect even caused transgression of them. As a kind of existed phenomenon, the police sub-culture plays an important role in the practice of policing, so we can not overlook it. In this paper, the writer will mainly discuss on the phenomena of police sub-culture and its correct regulation path.The first Chapter is the introduction, this chapter can be divided into two parts: the source and significance of this topic and the literature review. The significance of the topic mainly focus on the theoretical and practical significance to elaborate, also including the shortcomings of the article. Literature review is based on the western scholars and Chinese scholars to study police culture and sub-culture.The second chapter is the location of police sub- culture. In this part, the author divides it into three levels to carry on the elaboration: the first is the identification of culture and sub-culture; the second is the police culture, police sub-culture concept and the relationship with each other; the last is discussion of police sub-cultural phenomenon.The third chapter introduces the function of the police sub-cultural. This part from the positive and negative aspects to discuss the function of police sub-culture.Positive function includes the psychological adjustment function, cohesive function, self-protection function. The negative function is more important, such as extorting a confession by torture resulting in miscarriages of justice, resulting in the judicial corruption., damaged the image of the police etc. The positive functions of police sub-culture are extremely limited, it transformed into the negative to the function to some degree, we should properly regulate the police subculture, curb the negative to the function, give full play to the its positive function.The fourth chapter introduces the way to regulate the police subculture. This part mainly divides into three parts: first of all, to establish to "Chinese traditional human-oriented" as the core of the police subculture; second, promote the cooperation between the police and the people; finally, we should expand channels and ease the pressure of police and eliminate the closed and self adjustment of the police sub-culture.
