Between The State And Society:Political Analysis Of Komsomol

Komsomol was social group which was leaded by Communist Party of the Soviet Union and worked on the youth issues.Under the "highly-concentrated" and"highly-centralized" economic and political system of the Soviet party-state,Komsomol got both sides of state and society properties with game playing of the youth who had features of the times.From the property of state,Komsomol had basic functions as follows:carrying out political education and propaganda aimed at the youth,providing more excellent talents for all levels of Soviet Union's party and state,participating in construction of state's economy,society and military,assisting Soviet Communist Party to accomplish tasks of social management,promoting communication of international youth,awarding honors and encouragement.From the property of society,Komsomol had functions of studying the youth issues,concentrating on and realizing Soviet youth interests and enriching social and cultural activities.Komsomol became the tension's focus of the country and society.Moreover,with the interaction between Soviet country and society,Komsomol adjusted the relationship between party and itself as well as adjusted work styles,expanded the size of organization and enriched activities.Komsomol deviated and evolved gradually,which reflected from the case of World Festival of Youth and Students and BMMT as well as interaction between Komsomol and rock music.In the case of World Festival of Youth and Students,the festival provided a platform where the foreign youth communicated western culture and life styles with the Soviet youth.The Soviet official forwardly demanded opening to the outside world,which provided the youth with the chance of communication.In the process of interaction,Soviet youth accepted western values and life styles gradually.However,the control and administration of Soviet officials accelerated this process and produced youth behavior that complied in appearance but opposed in heart.After this festival,BMMT founded by Soviet officials was confronted with dilemma of the state and sustained requirement of the youth management.This organization profited from international communication.The desire eroded the official control to BMMT.At the same time,BMMT could not maximize profits during interactions because of official control.In the case of interaction between Komsomol and rock music,the restriction of Soviet party-state could not work but strengthened the rock music movement instead when it was confronted with the pressure of Soviet youth and international rock culture.Komsomol built its own bands or accepted unofficial bands from the society to strengthen its control.In the process of interaction with rock culture,Komsomol began to change itself.More and more Komsomol members understood and accepted this kind of culture.Moreover,there were a group of Komsomol leaders who supported and sponsored the performance of rock bands.Komsomol became the platform and tool that sponsoring rock bands as well as the source from which rock music and bands could gain strength.Finally,Komsomol disbanded with the Soviet Union as a result of interest-regaining of inner elites and resource-competing from informal groups.The reformation of Chinese Community Youth League should learn from the historical lessons of Komsomol.
