The Study Of The Placing Of The Fujian Intellectuals Going To The Countryside During "Cultural Revolution" Period

Educated youth, the image of this special social group has always drawn a lot of attention. Mao instructed in December 22nd,1968 that:"It is necessary that the educated youth come to rural areas and to be re-educated by poor peasants". Influenced by his words, the whole country set off a wave of the campaign of sending down young intellectuals to the countryside. This also happened in Fujian Province. During the "Cultural Revolution", nearly two hundred thousand educated intellectuals went to the village across the province, and they had a significant impact on the lives and developments of rural areas. This paper focuses on the settlement situation of Fujian educated youth during "Cultural Revolution". Under the premise of the overall grasp of the whole condition in Fujian, this paper mainly analyses their placement agencies, settlement measures, settlement managements, the issues caused by them and the impact on local farmers and production caused by them. This study helps people gain a better understanding and recognization of the settlement of the intellectuals in the campaign during the "Cultural Revolution" in Fujian, aiming to toward economic, political and cultural construction of our country today offer valuable experience.
