Research On The Campaign Of Sending Down Young Intellectuals To The Countryside In Fujian (1968-1973)

December 22, 1968 "People's Daily" published Mao Zedong's instructions: "it is absolutely necessary for educated young people to go to the countryside to be reeducated by the poor and lower-middle peasants." Then, the vast land of China set off a large-scale young intellectuals uphill campaign to rural areas. This article takes the object of the "Down to the Countryside Movement"in Fujian, research the main course of the Movement in Fujian, have done the further research to Fujian social psychology which is the mentality of educated youth and their parents during the campaign period. It can be concluded that they exist in the complicated and diverse mentality in the campaign climax stage. At the same time, Fujian young intellectuals of the resettlement measures and educated youth issues which during the movement also do in-depth study, it can be found that educated youths in rural areas can not take root in reality and reliable basis.
