Study On The Features Of Globalization From The Perspective Of David Harvey's New Imperialismy

David Harvey engages in the study of geography in the early years and later turns to Marxism research.Combining the method of spatial research he develops Marx's historical materialism and inherits the Marxist political economy in capital criticism.Harvey proposes capital logic and territorial logic through combining the spatial thought,historical geography materialism and capital criticism together,and the depriving accumulation,in which the over-degree accumulation is alleviated by"time-space" repair which however leads to the unbalanced development in the world.It can be seen that Harvey analyzes the reality based on the Marxist framework of capital accumulation.He holds that both the deficiency and the excess in capital accumulation can lead to the spatial expansion.In the view of Harvey,the essence of new imperialism is the spatial expansion caused by capital accumulation,which also means globalization.This thesis resorts to Harvey's new imperialism to expect an in-depth theoretical analysis of the new features of globalization.After the end of the Cold War,globalization has developed rapidly.While on the one hand,the capital logic and territorial logic affect the development of nation-state,therefore a series of crises in politics,economy and culture appears.One the other hand,the capital accumulation needs to depend on the international expansion of capital and the domination of multinational corporations.Besides,with the development of the depriving accumulation of imperialism international economic organizations have played a more important role and the present globalization has shown a new feature that the international monopoly capitalism deepens its influence.which leads to the unbalanced development in the world with the "time-space" repair and fosters"anti-globalization" thought in the world with the example of the intensified trade disputes.These new features essentially result from the development of capital accumulation asthe outcome of the unbalanced development of the world brought by the space expansion.From the new imperialism of Harvey,it can be seen that this spatial expansion has,to a certain extent,promotes the integration and development of all the countries'economy.But its dilemma has gradually emerged,especially the imbalance mentioned above,which has led to the internal and national gap between the rich and the poor.Thus,our country must take into account the new features of the new imperial globalization in the process of adapting to and solving the "new normality".The improvement of social structure and the reinforcement of national consciousness and national awareness should be emphasized to respond actively to the challenges from globalization.Meanwhile,we should stick to the independent development and prevent the "depriving accumulation" to maintain the inner activity of our nation's economy.Furthermore,we must expand the spatial practice and grasp the globalization opportunity to take a new road of openness.Keep the rational attitude for the opportunity and challenge of globalization.
