Since the 1970s,urban crisis has become universal in the Western capitalism countries. The context of global city has shown clearly.Urban Marxism has begun to take shape. These can be regarded as the times background for Harvey's the urbanization of capital thought.By inheriting Marx's capital criticism and borrowing Lefebvre's space production theory,Harvey formulated his thought of the urbanization of capital. As far as Harvey is concerned, the urbanization of capital is fulfilled through the transfer of surplus value in commercial city, the surplus production in industrial city, and the absorption of the surplus value in Keynesianism city.As for the consequence of the expansion of capital city,Harvey did not conduct abstract discussion.Instead, the consequence is revealed by means of the specific operation mechanism of urban housing and urban public resources. On such basis,it is figured out that the urbanization of capital,in nature, means the three-level capital circulation and the crisis of capital accumulation.Meanwhile,as city, which serves as the carrier of capitalism production mode, embodies the contradiction within capital logic,Harvey made full use of fundamental contradiction and the contradiction between movement and danger to uncover the paradox of contemporary capital logic.Harvey put forward the assumption of inhabitant city to replace the program of capital city.To be specific, the assumption is developed from three dimensionalities that have a progressive relationship. The three dimensionalities are the idea of taking human as yardstick, the possibility of social construction, and the assumption on the path to liberate inhabitant city.At last, the theoretical value, limitation of Harvey's urbanization of capital as well as its significance&inspiration for the new urbanization construction of China are analyzed.
