Geo-Security Game Between NATO And Russia-in The Perspective Of Ukrainian Crisis

Ukraine crisis has been reflected the geopolitical security game of NATO and Russia most obviously,to some extent,it can be said that it's the game of both sides.The disintegration of the Soviet Union released a large piece of geopolitical vacuum zone in Europe,in which both of NATO and Russia competed fiercely.Ukraine is located in the middle of the two geopolitical power,becoming "geopolitical pivot country".Affected by this,Ukraine's national security strategy has been wavering between "East" and "West" after its independence,"neutral" and "nonalignment"foreign policy principles being not really implemented.All Presidents of Ukraine adopted different national security strategies,the change of which was hampered by both of NATO and Russia and had a significant impact on Ukraine's domestic politics.The breaking of Ukraine crisis not only destroyed Ukraine's national sovereignty and territorial integrity,but also posed a threat to the safety of Europe.There is a structural contradiction between NATO and Russia,the root of which lies in the fundamental differences in the construction of the European security system.NATO,which insists on the "Cold War Mentality",are in pursuit of weaking the Russia and intends to lead the European security system.Consequently,NATO has expanded in the Eastern Europe constantly,even intends to have a hand in the Commonwealth Independence States.While Russia views CIS as the geographical dependence in the process of its restoring the world power status,the Eastern Europe as a "buffer zone" between NATO and Russia.Russia holds that there is no need of the existence of NATO,advocating the establishment of a Pan-European security system,in which Russia playing a major role.The cognition's conflict of both sides leads to the escalation of geopolitical security game,and the special geographical position of Ukraine and its foreign strategy becomes the game's focus.Finally,Ukraine issue has converted from the domestic political crisis into international conflicts.The competence between NATO and Russia about the scope of the European geopolitical influence tends to become white hot.In view of this,after summarizing the changes of Ukraine's foreign strategy and the development of NATO and Russia's geopolitical security policy on Ukraine,this article comes to the following conclusions:Firstly,Ukraine's important geopolitical value and geographical location made it become focus of the great powers'intervention.There are some variables to resolve the crisis in Ukraine in the future.Secondly,the structural contradiction between NATO and Russia will still exist in the foreseeable future,the geopolitical security situation of Europe being not optimistic.Thirdly,the new security concept has important significance to promote bilateral,international security cooperation and to solve the conflict of both sides,which is consistent with the trend of the world's development.In short,the geopolitical security game between NATO and Russia will continue in the European continent.
