Thailand Strategic To ASEAN(Cognition And Option)

A nation is the elementary participant of an international organization and its will and actions impose direct influence on the development of this international organization.The International Relation theory is based on the assumption,that all nations are rational;thus,their participation in an international organization is said to be a nation rational behavior.The nation actions are based on the cognition of the organization and its strategy.ASEAN is a successful and leading regional international organization,with its members across the whole south-eastern Asia.The level of inner cooperation has been enhanced and deepened,but it could not have accomplished this progress without the contribution of the core members such as Thailand.As one of the founding members of ASEAN,Thailand plays a major role.This paper will analyze the strategy and cognition of Thailand by the ASEAN organization,as well as to get a better understanding of ASEAN.National interest is Thailand's prominent concern,this implies that by joining this organization,Thailand's national interest can be improved,thus its position in south-eastern Asia will be strengthened and its reputation as a major nation in the community of the modern world further enhanced.Regardless of Thailand's intention on national interest,Thailand also helps to facilitate the development of ASEAN.Thailand is just as concerned about the other members' interests,as its own.Faced with the future development of the ASEAN community,Thailand will keep on playing a key role to promote local peace and prosperity.
