Research On The Political Transformation Of Cambodia Since The 1990s

From the 1960s to the early 1990s,Cambodian domestic coups,war,tyranny intertwined,was once the world's most turbulent and destiny of the country.However,since the beginning of the 1990s,Cambodia has quickly embarked on a path of peaceful,stable and democratic political development.Compared with other political transition countries in the same period and even later period,Cambodia's political transformation since the 1990s should be surprisingly successful and worthy of study.This article is intended to be devoted to this discussion.The paper is focused on the following four aspects:First,to summarize the historical background of Cambodia's political transformation since the 1990s.The international background is mainly economic globalization,the wave of the third wave of democratization,the change of the Soviet Union,the impact of the United Nations organizations,the impact of other major powers in five areas;its domestic background is mainly frequent war and extreme left the development of economic structure,the growth of non-governmental organizations,the political and cultural traditions,and the influence of political elites.Secondly,combining the Process and Characteristics of Political transformation in Cambodia since the 1990s.In the order of the change of the regime in Cambodia,the political transformation of Cambodia experienced a period of coexistence of the two powers(referring to the coexistence period between the Phnom Penh and the Democratic Cambodian coalition government),the initial establishment of the 1993 democratic system,the tortuous development of the democratic system in 1993-1998 Period,since 2003,the democratic system to consolidate the development period of four periods.The characteristics of Cambodia's political transformation mainly include:the United Nations-led;the parties to the contractual compromise,non-violent;political system of autonomy,decolonization;transition results,modernization and democratization to highlight these four aspects.Thirdly,the main achievements and problems in the process of political transformation in Cambodia since the 1990s were analyzed.The main achievements of the main achievements are as follows:the political situation is basically stable,the multi-party democratic politics is developing constantly;the modern constitutional monarchy is basically established,the royal court is restricted;the framework of the three powers is basically established,the dominant position of the executive power is obvious;the external relations are improved,improve the international status of Cambodia.The main problems are as follows:the construction of democratic system still needs to be improved;the problem of political corruption still exists;the democratic consciousness of the people is weak.Fourth,to explore the 20th century,90 years since the Cambodian political transformation can provide us with the main revelation.This paper mainly points out that the political transformation of Cambodia since the 1990s can provide at least the following experience for some developing countries:first,the political transformation requires the spirit of contractual compromise;secondly,the reconstruction of the political system must be suitable for its own national conditions;third,the political stability must be based on the basis of modernization of legalization;fourth,the road of democratization is a different type of country modernization and peaceful development of the only way.
