Facing the complicated international situation since 2012,this paper will do a research on Russia's new Asia policy during Putin's new ruling and demonstrates that Russia's strategic center still focuses on the West.Since the collapse of Soviet Union,the diplomatic policy of Russia has been regulated for several times.It has converted into the omnibearing diplomacy from the Pro-West policy and gradually confirmed general direction of the diplomatic policy.Along with the eastward shift of the focus of the world politics and economy,in 2012,Putin's returning,Russia continued to take the positive participation in the integration of East Asia and takes advantage of any opportunity to promote the exploitation and development of the Far East and Siberia,in order to realize its goal of great power status.In addition,due to the outbreak of the crisis of Ukraine in Dec 2013,Putin have to strengthen Asian dimension in the whole diplomatic policies in order to resist the sanction from the Western.Whether Russia will move toward to the East or not,to this issue,both in politics and in academia,it arouses a big discussion once again.Comprehensively,firstly it will briefly review the evolution of Russia's Asia policy after its foundation,and then will explore the background and motivation of this new Asia policy.Besides,it will describes the content and the characteristics of Russia's new Asia policy,including Putin's concept of pragmatism on governance,the economic interests and security concerns of geopolitics of Russia in Asia area.Finally it will make the analysis and prediction on the challenges and prospect of the new Asia policy and draw the conclusion that in the context of eastward and Russia's frustration to the West,Russia will strengthen the Asia policy in particular the cooperation with China,however,in terms of current situation,its overall direction will change a lot,that is to say,Russia will not move towards the East.
