Research On The "East" Adjustment Of Russian Diplomacy

Russia spans Eurasia and most of its territory is located in Asia.However,since Russia's independence,its diplomatic strategic focus has always been in the west,and the western countries are the priority of Russian diplomacy.Since the 1990 s,with the rapid economic development of the Asia-Pacific region,the strategic position of Asia-Pacific in the world economic landscapes has increased.The world's economic and political focus has also shifted to the region.The position of Asia in Russian diplomacy is also growing.When Putin comes to power,he pursues a “full-scale diplomacy” which centers on the development of the economy,and is committed to participate in the process of economic integration in the Asia-Pacific region.He is also trying to develop Russia's Siberia and the Far East vigorously.At the end of 2013,the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis has led to a sharp deterioration of relations between Russia and the West.In order to balance the political pressures of Western countries,Russia strengthens relations with Asia-Pacific countries.This article defines the process of transferring Russia's diplomatic focus to the Asia-Pacific region as an “eastward” adjustment.The research object of the thesis is the background,objectives and main contents of the “eastward” adjustment of Russian diplomacy.The article explores the achievements of Russia's diplomatic “eastward” adjustment by summarizing the latest trends in the development of relations between Russia and major Asian countries and regions.Russia is not only a big country of Eurasia,but also a political and military power in the world.This paper believes that the adjustment of Russia's foreign policy will bring new opportunities for cooperation between China and Russia.China has always been a priority in Russia's Asian diplomatic relations.The “eastward” adjustment of Russian diplomacy is bound to promote Sino-Russian cooperation in politic,economy,humanity and other fields.At the same time,this adjustment will also have an impact on the regional power structure,which will bring uncertainty to the development of bilateral relations.
