The Development Of Far East And Siberia In Russia And The Impact On Sino-russia Relations

In recent years, Russia continues to accelerate the development of the Far east and Siberia region. Since return to the presidency in2012, Putin makes the strategic focus of Russia from Europe to Asia, and enhances the development of the Far east and Siberia region to a new height. The Far east and Siberia region is an important window facing Asia-Pacific of Russia, it is also the mainly support of Russia’s participation in the Asia-Pacific economy. The political relations between China and Russia have always been strong, and nowadays the timing and conditions of ongoing large-scale economic cooperation is also ripe. Northeast China adjacent to the Far east and Siberia region, the economic participation between the two regions plays an important role in Sino-Russian economic relations. So, for understanding the evolution of Russia’s national strategy and how China to improve the occasion while avoiding disadvantages in this situation, studying the development of the Far east and Siberia region of Russia have great significance.This paper study the development of Far east and Siberia region from a strategic point of view, combed the Asia policy since the Soviet era, describe the formation and improvement of Russia’s Asia-Pacific strategy. The Russia’s former strategic considerations of the Asia-Pacific region is diplomatic balance, but now it becomes to make the Far east and Siberia region’s economic development and the whole country’s economic recovery as the starting point. Combining the evolution of the development history of the Far east and Siberia, this paper point out the development and change of the Far east and Siberia region’s strategic position, and consider that the economic development of the Far east and Siberia region has become an important strategic objectives of Russia’s Asia-Pacific strategy. Russia hopes to driving the rapid development of national economy by the take-off of this region. At the same time, Russia will build the Far east and Siberia region as an energetic Eurasia Land Bridge, which can be used to serving Russia’s overall diplomatic strategy. This paper discusses the following aspects about the development of Far east and Siberia:the motivation, strategic deployment, main development measures, preliminary achievement and all sorts of difficulties. On this basis, combining the Sino-Russian relations and the cooperation between the two countries in the Far east and Siberia region, this paper analysises the positive and adverse effect brought to the Sino-Russian relations by the development of the Far east and Siberia region, and makes some suggestions and opinions about what responses China should take.
