Study Of Community Volunteer Service For The Elderly

With the rapid development of economy and the improvement of medical level,the elderly population is growing rapidly.The implementation of family planning policy,family structure is changing toward miniaturization and core,from the original three generations gradually turning into the core family,DINK family.The rapid development of economy and society,people have higher requirements on the material and spiritual needs.Two generations of parent-child each hope to have more independent space,separated living.Because of their work,more children living in other city,people attend to the large number of empty nest families and single parents.In this case,the status of community care in pension system has become more and more important.The volunteer service has become an important resource in the development of community service pension.In this study,through questionnaire survey and interviews for the W community elderly and community staffs,we can found that,the elderly,to accompany learning and entertainment,agency affairs,home cleaning,accompany chat,accompany medical care,legal aid,door-to-door service and regular visit to the eight pension program,has certain practical needs,especially for home cleaning,accompany chat,entertainment than others.Based on the survey and interviews of 102 volunteers in the W community,we can understand the situation of voluntary service.The analysis proves that the supply for volunteer service and the needs of the elderly for volunteers resource is different,lack of rationality,and service continuity;volunteer service quality is not high,and the service content is relatively simple;recruitment and training is not perfect,the incentive measures are not in place,the performance of evaluation is difference.Based on the current situation and reasons,this paper proposes a W community voluntary service measures from the following aspects: holding service demand of the elderly,exerting the balance of supply and demand;enlarging the scope of recruiting and training;improving the quality of service;establishing and developing the volunteer incentive system;improving the volunteer service evaluation system;strengthening propaganda and building the service culture of community volunteer;strengthening community infrastructure construction to provide guarantee for community volunteer activities.
