As the South China Sea issue turning white-hot today,this paper combines the South China Sea disput e with the Taiwan Strait issue,focusing on the study of the cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits in the South China Sea under the new situation.The paper will discuss it as the following five parts:In the first part,it introduces the background of the South China Sea issue from the origin,the evolutio n and the current situation of the South China Sea problem.Then it analyzes and makes a statement on the i ssue of freedom of navigation,the historical evolution of the South China Sea issue and the actual occupati on of the South Island reef.The second part mainly discusses the evolution of the policy of the South China Sea across the Taiwan Strait,which can be divided into two parts: the mainland's policy evolution in the South China Sea and the policy evolution of Taiwan in the South China Sea.First of all,the author analyses the mainland governmen t's policy of the South China Sea focusing on the founding of New China,the Xisha naval battle in January 1974,the end of the Cold War,and the Huangyan Island incident in 2012.Then the author states the South China Sea policy of the Taiwan government based on the period of the two Chiang Dynasties,the Lee Teng-hui period,the Chen Shui-bian period,the Ma Ying-jeou period and the period since Tsai Ying-wen took of fice.The third part mainly talks about the foundation and necessity of cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.The main principles of cooperation between the two sides of the strait are: similar sover eign cognition,common rights management experience,civil continuous communication,existing cooperat ion basis and so on.The necessities of cooperation mainly are: the South China Sea's important strategic po sition and rich natural resources,and the benefit of cooperation which cannot only better deal with the prob lem of reefs,but also can slow down the tension between the two sides.The fourth part mainly elaborates the difficulties and challenges of the South China Sea cooperation b etween the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.Taiwan does not trust the mainland and has controversy on the "o ne China" theory,the "Taiwan independence" forces on the island are hampered,the intervention about the South China Sea cooperation between the two sides of the strait from Philippines,Vietnam and other disputed countries as well as the United States and Japan and other foreign countries to prevent the rise of China.Thus,the South China Sea cooperation on both sides of the strait still has more difficulties under these fact ors.The fifth part mainly describes the mode and path of cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Straits.Establishing cross-strait political mutual trust mechanism,transactional cooperation mechanism and military coordination mechanism,increasing the exchange of private academic,promoting cross-strait in th e sea law enforcement,environmental protection and other counterparts,all above measures are aimed at pr omoting the effectiveness of cross-strait cooperation in dealing with the South China Sea issue.The conclus ion part is a summary of the full text.The South China Sea islands are the inherent territory of the Chinese nation,and both sides of the strai t have made unremitting efforts in the maintenance of the interests of the South China Sea.In the current se vere situation of the South China Sea,only the two sides of the strait put down their hatchet,enhance mutua l trust,and actively promote the South China Sea cooperation,can they achieve a win-win effect and benef it the people on both sides of the strait and the whole Chinese nation.
