The Study On The Problem Of Relative Deprivation In Contemporary China

Relative deprivation is the common phenomenon of society.The unfair subjective feeling is producing when the individual or group compare own some aspects such as income,status,interests,with selected reference object.At present,relative deprivation has been widely studied by scholars.However,there are still few systematic researches on the influencing factors and effects of relative deprivation in macro-level.Especially,empirical research on these two aspects is scarce.Based on the available data of 2003 and 2013,this paper analyzes the influencing factors and effects of the relative deprivation of Chinese people by using the existing statistical data analysis method.In this paper,multiple linear regression technique is used to explore the influencing factors of relative deprivation,such as individual characteristics,economic factors,social and cultural factors and special experience factors.In this paper,the impact of relative deprivation on political participation,collective action,officials' moral satisfaction and public service satisfaction are discussed.On this basis,I try to put forward the basic countermeasures to alleviate the relative deprivation of people,in order to provide with some guidance to achieve our current social stability and harmony.The results show that: First,It is declining of China's overall relative deprivation from 2003 to 2013.Secondly,all kinds of relative deprivation has a strong correlation.Specifically,the horizontal relative deprivation,longitudinal relative deprivation and the relative deprivation caused by the life of unhappiness is a positive correlation between the three.Furthermore,the factors of individual characteristics,economic conditions,social and cultural factors and special experience factors have a significant impact on the relative deprivation.One of the most influential and stable is the family income and the family life level in the economic status,and the job satisfaction,close friends and relatives social in cultural.Finally,relative deprivation has a significant impact on political attitudes and behavior.Relative deprivation has a negative impact on political participation,official moral satisfaction and public service satisfaction,and has a positive impact on collective action.
