| China has seen great development in the building of the service system for the disabled in the past decades. The Chinese government has designated full-time committee members to provide better service for the disabled in the countryside,town and urban areas. It works allwell but problems still exist. The limitation of committee members and the external environment led to the service system’s being unprofessional and low efficient. This phenomenon aroused great concern in various social sectors including the DPF. To improve this situation, social workers should fulfill their responsibilities and take measures to promote the development of the service system for the disabled.The author carried out a series of researches on the selection and appointment of the commissioners,their work content,service effectiveness and difficulties in their work to get better understanding of the problems that hindered the professionalization of the commission.Then an analysis of the above matters was made from the professional perspective of social work.During this research,the author with professional social work methods intervened in the work of commissioners for the purpose of improving their working skills so as to meet the disabled’s needs.It is worth stressing that the author not only helped the full-time workers’ professionalization by intervening in individual cases,groups and communities,but also made contributions to the professionalization of China’s social work by deeply researching and analyzing the form,content and effect of their intervening work. |
