Both China and India have a long history and splendid civilization. The political cultures of the two countries also have their own characteristics. It is of great practical significance for us to correctly understand and grasp the political development and bilateral relations between the two countries.Political culture is an important achievement in the development of comparative politics. It is formed in the social development and historical accumulation of the nation and the country, including people's political cognition, attitude, belief, emotion and value orientation. These elements are closely linked together to form a political culture of a nation or a country.Political culture has a significant impact on international politics. It is tie of cooperation,a tool or means of political struggle and an important cause of political conflict between countries. The political cultures of China and India have both similarities and differences. The similarities are mainly reflected in that the political cultures of two countries are diverse with tolerance and national rejuvenation orientation. The difference is mainly reflected in the different structure of political cultures with different attributes and different traditional political culture.Chinese political culture is “one guidance,co-existence”,while Indian political culture shows opposites of secularization and religions.Chinese political culture is socialist political culture, while Indian political culture reflects both the characteristics of the western political culture and unique religious color of the nation. The bilateral relation of political cultures of China and India has an important and far-reaching impact. This impact is shown through elite decision-making,public opinion and construction of national image. This impact has been obtained and will continue to be confirmed in the Sino-India border dispute, the dragon elephant war of dragonelephant dance.Political culture has both positive and negative influences on Sino-India relations. From the positive aspect, open rather than closed political cultures of two countries are beneficial to their exchanges and cooperation in various fields,so as to strengthen political cognition, understand political value of each other and urge both sides to reach more political consensuses. At present, although there are still ideological and border issues between China and India, but overall cooperation is greater than confrontation. From the negative aspect, due to different political development idea,India and western world are still biased and alert about China's peaceful development. There are still some people accusing of Chinese political culture, advocating Chinese threat theory and promoting that the common development of China and India will inevitably cause struggle. The two sides still have unresolved differences on democracy and border. All of these reflect the so-called geopolitical dilemma which caused by difference of political cultures. In short,as two emerging economic entities,China and India are playing more and more important role in the world. The world is big enough to accommodate the common development of two countries.Although there are differences in political cultures of two countries,it is common wish of both sides to develop national economy and realize national rejuvenation. Therefore, two sides can make joint efforts to seek political development by seeking common ground while reserving difference in political cultures.
