Intergenerational support usually includes financial support, daily caring and emotional comfort between two generations, and is an important means of support within the family. For the motivation of intergenerational exchange,in the field of social sciences, especially in the field of economics, altruism and intergenerational exchange are usually used as the basis for dividing motivation. In the field of sociology,a more disciplinary and localized analysis needs to be established.frame.From a practical perspective,in order to cope with the aging society that has come,in the formulation and application of policies,it is also necessary to reexamine the current pension policy, social infrastructure support and the development of the family. Therefore, the research content of this paper mainly includes two points, first is to determine the theoretical framework of intergenerational support motivation;second is to use empirical data to verify the explanatory power of the framework. The four groups of relationships constitute intergenerational support for altruism, intergenerational exchange, and family norm, based on the care provided by the child to the parent and the income of the child and the parent ’s financial support.Analysis framework:Altruistic motivation. There are two effects of the increase in children’s wage levels on the expected time.First of all,the increase in wages will encourage children to provide less care;another possibility is that although the children ’s income level is increased because the value of labor paid per unit time is greater, they can spend less time to obtain the original The same,or even more compensation, then more time can be used to care for parents.Considering these two situations comprehensively, the relationship between the two is significant, but it is unclear;let us look at the relationship between parental wealth and child care.As parents become richer, their wealth for purchasing formal care(daily care, medical services, daily products, etc.)also increases, and the demand for intergenerational support provided by the children is reduced, and the supply is natural.cut back.Regarding the relationship between children’s income and parents’ financial support, the higher the children’s income, the less financial support they need from their parents, and the less support the parents will actually provide to them. This is the only situation that occurs when the children are completely altruistic;the last is the situation of parents ’wealth and financial support. When parents’ wealth increases, the wealth they transfer to their children will also increase.Intergenerational exchange motivation. In terms of the relationship between the care provided by the child to the parents and the income level of the parents, when the parents are richer,he can "buy" more care from the children, which is proportional to the two.But at the same time, parents can also purchase more formal care, and the increase in formal care will weaken the elderly’s need for informal care,so the relationship between the two is uncertain. However,in the context of the intergenerational exchange model, parents ’wealth and care time form a seemingly commodity trading relationship, from which we can deduce that parents’ wealth and their financial support to their children are in the same direction as the above changes; In terms of children ’s wage levels and care time, when the former is increased,it means that the opportunity cost of providing care to parents is also increased. From an economic perspective, the care provided by children to parents will be reduced accordingly;finally, the child ’s salary Level and financial support from parents. On the one hand,if parents want more care from their children, they need to spend more;on the other hand, they can switch to lower-cost formal care,so it seems that the relationship between children ’s wages and parental financial support is not clearly.Family norm motivation.Because children are constrained by the concept of "raising children and preventing old age" in traditional ethics, children will provide care no matter what else happens, and one parent will consider family ethics to maintain family unity.Children will be provided with care, which is not related to the parents’ wealth. This article uses China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Survey(CHARLS)as empirical materials to analyze the research problems. In the specific analysis steps, the noneconomic support provided by the children to the parents and the financial support provided by the parents to the children are selected as the dependent variables, and the income of the children and the parents is selected as the core independent variable. The situation, and the regression of the urban and rural areas and the gender of the children. In the end,we found that the main motivations of current Chinese family intergenerational support are differentiated, which are generally affected by the intergenerational exchange motivation, and are compatible with altruism and family ethics motivations. From an intergenerational perspective, children provide intergenerational support more motivated by communism, while parents are more influenced by altruism. At the same time, parents take the initiative to provide care for their children. From the traditional support point of view,it destroys the balance of support between generations and harms the interests of the elderly. However, under the current background of social structural transformation, the continuous contribution of parents to their children is actually a family strategy for the family to cope with social changes, maintaining family solidarity in a seemingly unbalanced relationship.
