Research On The Application Of Social Media In Counterterrorism Intelligence Work

In the current fight against to international terrorism,new international terrorist organizations which represented by "Islamic State" use social media to publish seditious remarks,spread religious extreme thoughts and recruit members which be a serious threat to the security of the international community.Through the interaction between the virtual social media platform and the real action,the form of terrorist activity has changed.Along with the spread of terrorism and the organization of terrorism are showing a new look,the strength and influence of terrorist organizations greatly enhanced.In order to solve the terrorism in social media better,it is necessary to invest in legal,institutional,management,technical and personnel fields,strengthen the supervision of social media and enhance the ability to counterterrorism intelligence work,which will prevent and combat social media terrorism effectively.The objective of this paper is to improve the ability of the counter-terrorism sector to use social media to develop counter-terrorism intelligence.First of all,it analyzes the causes,manifestations and main features of the use of social media by terrorist organizations,which helps us to fully understand how terrorist organizations use social media to promote religious extreme thoughts,recruit people,create horror atmosphere and collect the information of opponent,Which reveals the positive effect of social media to the development of terrorist organizations.Secondly,it analyzes the important role of social media in counter-terrorism intelligence from three aspects: broadening the channels of counter-terrorism intelligence,improving the timeliness of counter-terrorism intelligence and deepening tacit counterterrorism.It shows that social media brings both opportunities and challenges to the counter-terrorism intelligence system.Thirdly,for the rich and disorderly resources of social media,we analyze how to obtain counter-terrorism intelligence through social media from the perspective of the collection,assessment and analysis of counter-terrorism intelligence.It proves that we can get a lot of counterterrorism information from the social media through appropriate methods.Finally,we discuss the grim situation of social media terrorism in our country and put forward reasonable policies and suggestions on the current counter-terrorism intelligence work.The study enriches the content of the social media on terrorist activities and helps us realize the latest trends in terrorist activities.Moreover,this paper also provides a new way of obtaining counter-terrorism information for social media,and puts forward comprehensive policy suggestions for better prevention and combating of social media terrorist activities,and helps to promote the further development of counter-terrorism intelligence.
