In the modern aging society,as an important part of life-long education,the colleges for the elderly education plays a very important function and role in building the learning society.In March,2017 the State Council issued the "13th Five-Year" national aging career development and pension system construction plan ".It proposed two indicators that by 2020 to build an elderly school town(street)ratio up to 50% and regular participation in educational activities of the elderly population the proportion of more than 20%.In order to understand the learning needs of the elderly college students,this paper conducts a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews with the elderly students in Guangzhou City which studies the characteristics of learning needs of the elderly students in Guangzhou and analyzes its influencing factors.This article attempts to refer to the theory of social psychology of the aged,the sociological theory of the aged and the hierarchy of needs.What is more,this article explores how the development of i nnovation in education for the elderly better serve the elderly so that to better serve the building of a learning society and promote social development feasibility of the proposal basedThe study finds that the gender,educational level a nd other eight social demographic variables and learning conditions such as learning objectives,teaching levels and methods are different degrees of impact on the learning needs of older students.The influence is complex and has a difference.Therefore,we should pay attention to the differences in the learning needs of the elderly students and develop the diversified continuing education.
