Social Integration Of New Generation Of Female Migrants: Current Status And Determinants

Female is one of the basic power of social development and progress,the development of female not only deeply affects the comprehensive strength of a country and region,but also profoundly affects the equal and harmonious deve lopment of the world.With the development of urbanization,more and more women liking "migratory birds" migrate to cities.The 6th National Census of Population data showed that female have occupied half of the floating population.The new generation of female migrants become the main body of female migrants,their education and career expectations are higher,the willingness to integrate into the mainstream city is stronger.However,the traditional gender norms and gender inequality in reality restrict their integration into the city.On the one hand,Paying attention to the new generation of female migrants improves female social status and family status,on the other hand,it is important for urbanization and the construction of socialist harmonious society.This paper uses the project survey data on social integration of floating population conducted by the Nation Health and Family Planning Commission in 8 cities(districts)in March,2014,which is timely,of high authority and of a large sample size.The paper using descriptive and inferential statistical methods analyses the new generation of female migrants of different individual characteristics and gender firstly.Secondly it analyses the influencing factors of the social integration of the new generation of female migrants.The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:First,the present situation of each dimension of the social integration between new generation of female migrants and new generation of male migrants is different,gender has influence on social integration of new generation migrants.new generation of female immigrants have lower income and do more physical labor than new generation of female immigrants.their neighbors are mainly outsiders and they participate more association of class and hometown.Besides,they master the language of the local worse but more agree with the local culture than the new generation of male migrants.Second,the individual characteristics and flow characteristics have different effects on the social integration of the new generation of migrant female.Besides,the factors exist differences Comparing with the new generation of female migrants.In the economic integration level,education,household registration,labor contract and migration distance have remarkable effect on new generation of female migrants.For new generation of male migrants,education,the household registration and migration distance are not significant.In social relations level,the household registration and labor contract have remarkable effect on the new generation of female migrants,age and education become significant on the new generation of male migrants.In the cultural integration level,education,marital status,labor contract and flowing length of new generation of female have remarkable effects,for new generation of male migrant,age,education and flowing length have significant influence.In psychological integration,education and flowing length have remarkable effect on the new generation of female migrants,however,flowing length hasn't effect on the new generation of male migrant.Finally,according to the study,policy suggestions are put forward to promote the social integration of the new generation of female migrants.
