The Role Of Regional Approaches In The United Nations Mechanism For The Peaceful Settlement Of Disputes

As an important subject of international law,the role of regional organizations and their regional approaches after the Second World War in the UN system for the peaceful settlement of disputes has drawn much attention because of its controversial applications in recent years.Therefore,It is particularly important to explain and contrast the development status of the regional approach and its advantages and disadvantages by introducing international cases.The internal function of enhancing regional mutual trust and promoting interest symbiosis has led to the emergence of regional organizations with dispute settlement functions.Procedure standardization and method diversification have led to the gradual transformation of regional approaches to frustrating effectiveness in the Cold War process to a welcome major dispute settlement method.the African Union,the European Union,ASEAN,and the OSCE are all typical representatives.Since its inception,the United Nations has paid great attention to the role of regional organizations.The long-term bilateral security cooperation and authorization under the regulation of the UN Charter is still effective despite its improvement.The regional approach highlighted the geopolitical and collective strength of its advantages in the cases of the Angolan Armenian War,the Libya-chad Ozu dispute,the Civil War in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the South China Sea dispute,as well as its negative impact on the state's lack of will and extraterritorial interference.At this stage,regional organizations are facing the dilemma of institutional transition and the legality of cross-border operations.The United Nations should provide them with necessary support in due course.Funding support,promotion of institutional development,and improvement of the rule of law environment will all reduce the scope of their limitations.To increase effectiveness,the coordination body of the Security Council built on the basis of existing cross-regional cooperation mechanisms can also achieve comprehensive regulation of regional approaches in terms of personnel capabilities,information exchange,and rule setting.In addition,the regional approach is conducive to the maintenance of international security.China should also strive to promote the establishment and development of regional organization and coordination mechanisms.It will become a major practice in the field of dispute settlement in the "human destiny community."...
