Since the reform and opening-up policy,the working focus of our party has transferred to economic construction.Women responded to the theme of the times and associated their own improvement and development with the great undertaking of socialism construction,so as to give full play of their“half the sky” effect.Our government carries out various rules and regulations to guarantee the implementation of the basic national policy of “equality of men and women”,thus making sure that women should enjoy the equal rights.However,at present,our country is still in the primary stage of socialism,its feudal female view has not be eliminated thoroughly,which is manifested by the materialization,discrimination and the heavy family burden suffered by the women.In order to solve these problems,it should be clearly understood how the status of “unequal men and women” forms and how the present“equal men and women”be realized.The formation of the unequal men and women relationship has a very complicated historical origin.Being influenced by the feudal gender conception,Chinese women used to be excluded from social production for a long period.However,as the history develops,they finally got out of the family in modern times to realize their own comprehensive and free development.Such a transformation happened under the leadership of the leaders of Chinese Communist Party in the first generation with Mao Zedong as the core member.The gender equality thought of Mao Zedong not only analyzed the reason for women suffering from compression,but also pointed out the way for their liberation,thus enabling gender equality to become practice from the theory.Since the establishment of new China,the social status of the vast Chinese women has been improved unprecedentedly;women obtained unparalleled freedom;their social rights got record-breaking protection.The gender equality thought ofMao Zedong just answered the problem of how to carry out women movement in such a country like China with backward manufacturing force,in which,women are mostly peasant women and working women.Therefore,the gender equality thought of Mao Zedong still has important significance to guide the women liberation movement in the present primary stage of socialism.This paper is divided into four parts: the first part studies the “gender equality” concept from historical materialism.It firstly analyzes the basic connotation and formation history of the “equality” concept-the human beings develop from the simple equality,to the generation of the inequality and then to the awakening of equality awareness.Then it analyzes the development history of the two genders from equality,to the inequality and then the awakening of equality awareness.Afterwards,it makes a statement about the relationship between “gender equality” and “women liberation”,thus establishing the central idea of the whole text that the problems of Chinese women are analyzed through historical materialism.The second part narrates simply the theoretical basis forming the gender equality thought of Mao Zedong-Marxism gender equality thought and feminism in the west,and then expounds the formation process and historical background of the gender equality thought of Mao Zedong.First of all,with the “four rights” theory as the starting point,the reason for women being compressed is analyzed;secondly;it simply introduces the germination of the women's conscious in recent years;afterwards,it cards the development process of the gender equality thought of Mao Zedong in time sequence as generation-development-matured-basic formation-expand.The third part introduces the main content of the gender equality thought of Mao Zedong in details.What does the Party Central Committee represented by Mao Zedong do to guarantee women to get freedom and equality on economy,politics,marriage and education?
