Teacher professional identity refers to the complex of the positive cognition, experience and behavior tendency on profession and internalized career roles from individual or groups of teachers, and it determines their degree of passion, initiative and effort for education. Sense of teacher professional identity is very important for growth and development of students, individual career development and happiness of teachers, and development of school.This research was carried out mainly by questionnaire survey, and supplemented by open?ended interviews. It investigated 107 teachers in Changsha fifteenth middle school, which is a highschool, from four dimensions that were the occupation values, role values, sense of belonging and occupation behavior tendency. It made a detail analysis to the difference of teacher occupation identity due to gender, age, seniority, education, job title, post, monthly incomes and being class teacher or not.On the basis of empirical investigation, We draw the following conclusions:(1)Overall, professional identity of teachers in the highschool of the city is relatively higher, but their role values is not high.(2)There are significant differences in professional identity among teachers in the highschool of the city, and professional identity of female teachers is higher than that of male teachers.(3)There are significant differences in professional identity due to difference of age and seniority.(4)There are differences in professional identity due to different subjects.(5)There are obvious differences in professional identity due to post.(6)There are obvious differences in professional identity among teachers whose monthly incomes are different.(7)There are some differences in professional identity among teachers of different grades.(8)There are more significant differences in professional identity among teachers who are class teachers or not. 9?There are not significant differences in professional identity among teachers in the highschool of the city due to education and job title.Through investigating and analyzing, understanding state of professional identity of teachers in the city, trying to put forward some reasonable suggestions to optimizing the urban environment for highschool teachers' professional identity, and promote the development healthily of teachers from four aspects which are social, government, schools and teachers themselves.
