To a certain extent, higher vocational education has been considered as the pillar of the economy of Western developed countries. Those advanced technology application-oriented talents and “ingenious” technicians cultivated through higher vocational education have created a series of myths, such as Volkswagen,Mercedes-Benz and Siemens, etc. At present, there are many questions in the talent cultivation, the construction of the teaching staff and scientific research service at higher vocational schools in China. Due to the deficiency of higher vocational education, the number of talents with the vocational qualification of senior technicians and engineers is extremely limited in the huge group of skilled workers in China. This has severely influenced the progress of facilitating the adjustment of the economic structure, the industrial structure and the structure of urban and rural regions under the “12th Five-year Plan”. In consideration of this fact, the State Council released The Decision about Accelerating the Development of Modern Vocational Education released in May2014. It is pointed out by the Decision that by the year 2020, a modern vocational education system which can meet the development demands, deeply integrate production with education, link up secondary and advanced vocational education, connect between vocational and general education, and reflect the philosophy of life-long education,Chinese characteristics and the international standard would have been established. Thus,the development of vocational education can be lifted up to the layer of national strategy.It is suggested by many studies that university-industry cooperation has been regarded as the key in the development of vocational education, and an important link in solving the questions existing in higher vocational schools, such as talent cultivation, the construction of the teaching staff and scientific research service. Then, how's the condition of university-industry cooperation in higher vocational education? Do highervocational schools have any successful experience in university-industry cooperation?What difficulties will they run into in such cooperation? What are the factors influencing university-industry cooperation? Are there any methods to improve schools' capability in university-industry cooperation? These are the focus of this research.The theories of university-industry cooperation proposed by China and foreign countries are taken as the guidance in this paper. The concept, characteristics and connotation of university-industry cooperation in higher vocational education are systematically analyzed, concluded and summarized. Based on the analysis of relevant documents on university-industry cooperation in Z College, the Outline of University-industry Cooperation Investigation of Z Vocational Technical College is formulated. In light of the outline for investigation, the background, content(talent cultivation, scientific research service, the construction of the teaching staff and campus culture), security system and modes of university-industry cooperation, as well as the characteristics and innovation of university-industry cooperation in Z College are deeply investigated. During the investigation, relevant persons in charge are interviewed positively, so that the faculty's information in the cognitive layer can be acquired. In the end, relevant factors that might influence university-industry cooperation are explored in light of the result of the investigation and the content of the interview.Resource dependence is a fundamental element influencing university-industry cooperation. By virtue of the dynamic mechanism, the external environment(government,economy and society) has been influencing university-industry cooperation. During the process of implementation, university-industry cooperation has been mostly influenced by the mechanism of communication and distribution. Specifically speaking, the experience and organizational system of university-industry cooperation, and the current status of the enterprise are the main factors influencing the implementation of university-industry cooperation. The experience in this field can facilitate the mobility of university-industry information and drive the cooperation. The organizational system canalleviate certain frictions between university and industry, and further promote the cooperation. The current status of the enterprise exerts an influence on the difficulty of the practical cooperation to a certain extent.
