We are surviving in a time of media convergence, with radically new environment and competition. Internet technology constantly revolves; 4G widely spreads. People are attracted by a great number of new media for sight and listening, which also helps the development of traditional television and broadcast programs.Host has various ways of presentation in such a time of media fusion including channel-net combined host, cellphone program host, self-making program host. Its non-linearity, diversity, interactivity and individuality make the jobs for host more demanding: hosts have to be good at oral expression and professional knowledge; they also need to acquire many creating skills and have their own characteristics. However, after 50 years development, our media education for hosts faces kinds of contradictions. Under comprehensive investigation, this thesis analyses the media education situation in China from six aspects: history, subject status, admission scale, education aim, syllabus, and method. Allowing for the new situation, the thesis also notes four salient problems for media education at the moment, namely, the unbalance between the production and the need, the failure of the match between admission scale and the education resource, the non-conformance between its aim and the social atmosphere, and the inconsistency between the skill training and its market demands.Faced up these problems, by analyzing the information spreading features, combining the most updated reports, comparing the teaching experiences in other societies from Taiwan of China and the overseas, and referring to the personal reports from some Chinese prestigious hosts, the author proposes a new plan of the media education reformation. Firstly, clarify the nature and aim of this subject. It is suggested that the subject should combine with Chinese theory of broadcasting, theory of communication, and linguistics and develop from an artistic perspective. Secondly, enlarge the scope of education. It should change from the traditional skills to wider media convergence techniques. Thirdly, adjust the idea of good media education. A successful teaching should not only focus on students' broadcasting skills, but also their ability to produce and practice. Fourthly, improve the qualities of our syllabus. Five sections should be necessary: cultural edification, media-fusion ability, audio and linguistic training, application, and practice.
