English is an important foreign language for our junior high school students. However, many students are bored at learning English and fail to feel the beauty of English due to the lack of English learning environment, which leads to a boring learning process. Therefore, to improve students' interest in learning English and drive their enthusiasm of learning it has practical significance. The effective application of teaching means of English musicality to junior English class can make English learning less boring, activate the atmosphere in class, and improve students' interest in learning English. The methods of classroom observation, interview, experiment and questionnaire survey were used in this research. The author based on a large amount of reference and designed a questionnaire for the participant students and observed teachers' teaching process during class to know the current situation of the application of English songs, proverbs and poems to junior English class.Based on the survey and classroom observation, the following conclusion can be drawn: English songs, proverbs and poems are not frequently used. Firstly, English songs, proverbs and poems are used more in Open Class than Regular Class. Secondly, novice teachers use them more frequently than experienced ones. Thirdly, English songs are more frequently used than proverbs and poems. Last, teachers are more inclined to use English songs in the lead-in part. However, the cultural significance in English songs, proverbs and poems has not been explained in detail. What's worse, the frequent use of them is considered by some teachers as a waste of time. After the investigation of the current application, the author randomly chose one class as the experimental class from two parallel classes in Grade Eight, and used English songs, proverbs and poems in many ways to enrich teaching contents. After eight weeks' experiment, the author made a survey and interviewed the students in the experimental class again, and summarized the changes of students' interest, learning motivation and their feeling of beauty in English. This research, after exploring the effective use of English songs, proverbs and poems in junior English class, seeks to put forward more practical and effective teaching suggestions according to the survey and experimental results. The author hopes to inspire teachers to renew their teaching ideas so they can introduce more interesting contents in class, to cultivate students' interest, and improve students' enthusiasm in learning English. In this way not only can the students feel the rhythm and beauty of English but also understand the language and its culture better.
