School adaptation is an important factor that affects the mind and body health for junior students. Anyway it also plays an important role to their future development. However, junior students often have to face academic stress, many worries and problems when they are hungry for independence. If their parents and teachers can't give them right help on time, they will get worse in school adaptation. Scholars have found that junior school students' emotional intelligence heads from their families and plays important roles in school adaptation. In this paper, we will investigate the current junior school students' school adaptation which is classified as school attitudes and emotion, conventional adaptation, academic adaptation, companion relationship and relationship with teachers.The author will probe into the relationships among junior school students' emotional intelligence, parenting style and school adaptation. This paper includes 440 participants from No.20 middle School, Jinan with the s-EMBU-C(2010),Liu Yan and Zou Hong's Emotional Intelligence Test of High School Students(2010)and Cui Na's the School Adaptation Inventory for Junior Students(2008) where 430 questionnaires returned are valid. Results:(1) In parenting style, the score of daughter is higher than that of son in mother's rejection. Parent's emotional warmth differs significantly in different academic performances. The score of excellent students with best academic performance is significantly higher than that of students with worse and the worst academic performance in father's emotional warmth. The score of excellent students with better and the best academic performance is significantly higher than that of students with worse academic performance in mother's emotional warmth.(2) In academic adaptation, the girl's score is higher than boy's. There are significant differences among students from three grades in school attitudes and emotion, conventional adaptation, academic adaptation and general school adaptation. The score of Grade Two is significantly higher than that of Grade Three in conventional adaptation. The scores of Grade One and Grade Two are significantly higher than that of Grade Three in school attitudes and emotion, academic adaptation and general school adaptation. Four dimensions of junior student's school adaptation differ significantly in different academic performance. The better junior students get academic performances, the better they are in school adaptation.(3) In junior school students' emotional intelligence, the score of students with better academic performance is higher significantly than that of the other students in perceiving emotions, emotions used to facilitate thought and understanding emotions, but the score of students with the best academic performance is the best in managing emotions.(4) Parent's emotional warmth positively correlated with junior students' emotional intelligence, general school adaptation and its five dimensions. Parent's rejection and overprotection both have significantly negative correlations with junior school students' emotional intelligence, general school adaptation and its five dimensions except correlation between mother's overprotection and companion relationship.(5) Junior students' emotional intelligence plays an intermediary role between parenting style and school adaptation. Parenting style affects junior students' school adaptation through their emotional intelligence.
