English reading plays an extremely important role in improving senior high school students' English comprehensive ability,and English reading teaching in ordinary rural senior high schools is currently confronted with a series of challenges.Unless we respect the discrepancy of senior high school students in our teaching,scientifically analyze their needs in English reading and design senior high school English reading teaching procedures and strategies more in line with their actual level to meet their different learning needs,we can not truly achieve the goals put forward in the national English curriculum standard for general senior high schools to benefit all the students and build a good foundation for their lifelong learning.Therefore,guided by the theory of need analysis and applying research methods such as literature research,questionnaire survey,interviews and language testing for data collection and analysis,this study explored the rural high school Grade One students' needs in English reading,designed English reading teaching mode suitable for the students' needs.Through a sound English reading teaching experiment and related data statistics and verification,the conclusions are reached as follows:1.The English reading teaching mode based on need analysis has clarified the focal points in rural senior high school students' English reading needs:(1)the problems in learning most basic grammar usages and vocabulary and in speed reading are to be solved;(2)explanation of reading theories and skills is to be gradually penetrated in the classroom training;(3)good English learning environment is to be created and the students' emotional factors are to be deeply concerned.2.English reading teaching mode based on the analysis of students' need can effectively discover and solve the students' main problems in each class,and it can also strengthen the students' mutual help and interaction between teachers and students,stimulate students' interest in learning and effectively promote the rural senior high school students' English reading ability and their achievement.So the research hypothesis of this study is confirmed that the application of the theory of need analysis in rural senior high school English readingteaching can help solve the problem in students' learning,improve their reading ability and solve their emotional problems in learning of English reading.3.The experimental results further proves that under the English reading teaching mode based on need analysis is more able to find out and meet the students' actual need in their learning of English reading than the conventional way.Therefore in order to improve the students' English reading ability the implementation of needs analysis in rural senior high school teaching of English reading is both absolutely necessary and completely feasible.
