Research On Baochen Fu's Educational Thought

As an outstanding and patriotic democratic educator in the modem history,Baochen Fu specialized in rural civilian education at first,and later he turned to the public education.The education thought of Fu mainly embodied in two fields: rural civilian education and public education.Baochen Fu analyzed the urgency of the development of rural civilian education.He devoted to change the backward country by developing rural civilian education,promoting rural civilian construction,and promoting national prosperity.Accordingly,he considered that the rural education should educate the rural people from three areas,including literacy,livelihood and citizen.Meanwhile,he made the concrete implementing scheme and conducted a series of practical activities.After the rise of Nanjing National Government,Baochen Fu began to focus on the public education in the whole country.He emphasized that the public education should pay attention to the whole life of people,and after he cleared up carefully about the classification and the implementation principles of the public education,he thought that the public education should focus on the literacy education at first.During the anti-Japanese war,Fubao Chen combined education with national salvation,and put forward the implementation plan about public education in the period of national calamity.He called for combining of politics with education to realize the goal of self-government,self-support,and self-defense,and thereby promote the social production and local self-government,and then save the nation from peril.The educational thought of Fu was very precise and full of insight,and he emphasized on practice,based on the village,scanned widely across the country,integrated with the west,and combined with national conditions.Meanwhile,his educational thought was not only in the field of education,but also involves politics,economy,culture and other fields.Moreover,he combined education with local autonomy and democratic constitutionalism,so as to promote social progress and national revival.Therefore,the educational thought of Fu was modernistic and can still be used for reference to the current education in China.
